Pat Lynch, who among many other activities is a dedicated police scanner listener, provided the following anecdote today:
Home invasion near downtown LR this afternoon... suspect dropped his wallet (which contained not only ID but a ticket for a moving violation with complete auto description).
Bad boy begins calling residence he intruded demanding return of wallet and $300. Money was to be left at a service station in NLR.
NLR cops just made the arrest.
I checked this with Lt. Terry Hastings at LRPD. He confirms the story -- a robbery by a man with a shotgun who struggled with the resident of a home in the 1900 block of Izard about 1:45 p.m. The intruder dropped his own wallet as he fled the scene, along with a traffic ticket, his vehicle registration and his Social Security card. A suspect, Courvoiser Marteze Riley, was picked up not long after by NLR police who were tracking the man named in the papers to his home on Division Street in North Little Rock. Hastings commented: "One sure way of getting caught is to drop your wallet at the scene of a robbery you just committed."
Also on the cop beat: Central Arkansas Transit confirms an accident involving a bus and pedestrians near Fourth and Louisiana early this afternoon, but the spokesman had no details. Hastings said he'd been told the accident didn't require an ambulance dispatch.
