Ah. Now a raid we reported earlier becomes clear.
U.S. Attorney Jane Duke says a Pine Bluff osteopath, Kelly Dean Shrum, has been indicted for giving patients an intrauterine device not approved for use in the U.S. and charging Medicaid for a more expensive version of the device, sold under the name Mirena.
Shrum is charged with misbranding under the Food and Drug Act, health care fraud and three counts of money laundering for several transactions in excess of $10,000. Shrum transferred the money from an account into which Medicaid deposited reimbursements.
ALSO IN FEDERAL COURT: Duke announced the indictment of Tracy Clemons 44, of Quitman on 65 counts of mail fraud. A news release said he stole more than $350,000 worth of pine logs cut from Deltic Timber property by diverting it to other mills as timber supplied by his mother's wood brokerage company.
