House Speaker Robbie Wills mounts a vigorous defense of the zillion-dollar plan to create fancy new offices for legislators by moving legislative staff to fancy new offices in Big MAC in space created by moving several agencies out of Big MAC into a formerly derelict but soon-to-be fancily rebuilt office building on Capitol Avenue. And don't forget the multi-million-dollar tunnel necessary to protect hairdos in transit between the multi-million-dollar new Captiol and Big MAC offices.
I'll remind Blog readers that you learned first about the iceberg tip of this plan -- the relocation of the State Library and other state agencies to the old Dillard's building -- right here.
Multiple sources made it clear then that this was a shell game invented with one controlling purpose -- to create new offices for legislators. EVERYTHING, every multi-million to be spent, flows from that. Tell these greedheads to get the money from the powerhouse school administrators who've siphoned maybe $10 million illegally from the Teacher Retirement System and now that the scam has been discovered, won't be asked to pay it back. Or maybe instead of accepting expensive drinkathons from the lobbies for House Speaker inaguaration and farewell parties, to tell them to donate it to a state good works fund.
Republican Party of Arkansas, you have a gift here against the excesses of one-party dominance.
PS -- Has anybody checked to see if there's a tunnel in the works to the Capitol Hill Frat House for really cool legislators?
