Little Rock School Board members frequently share their internal e-mails with me and it often makes for interesting reading, particularly if you follow the fate of the state's largest district.
For example: Board member Jody Carreiro, a number cruncher by trade, has put together a spread sheet on a number of district budget items, including per-student spending at each of the district's schools. You might be surprised at some of it.
This school-by-school info shows the district is virtually at capacity for enrolling children in pre-kindergarten programs. Helping them and holding them are the next big questions to answer about these children.
Want to observe a group working to take the district in a new direction? The Strategic Planning Commission will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday in the district board room.
PS -- A School Board member notes that Carreiro's figures cover primarily school district dollars, not federal expenditures on schools (often tied to low-income kids) and some of the money the state sends to magnet schools.
