UPDATE: House rebukes Wilson

UPDATE: After a lengthy debate -- rules of decorum are rules decorum (D) vs. he already apologized enough (R) -- the House of Representatives today passed a resolution disapproving the behavior of U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson for shouting "you lie" at President Obama during his speech to Congress last week. The vote was 240-179, according to a Twittering blogger. Seven Republicans supported the resolution. 12 Democrats voted against it. Five Democrats voted present, which has the effect of a "no" vote. Party line vote in Ark. delegation -- Dems yes; Boozman no.

PREVIOUSLY:

My college frat brother, South Carolina Republican Congressman Wilson, won friends among a noisy coterie of 'baggers and blowhards for his intemperate display in the House.

But that is cold comfort for the likes of this piece, which says Wilson used college deferments and pull for a cushy reserve slot to avoid going to Vietnam. (He was not alone, it's worth noting.) But the item also notes how Wilson has voted against veterans' benefits, even as he wraps himself in the flag of his and his sons' service. Others have noted that he decries government health care while he and family enjoy some of the best government health care there is, TRICARE. And don't forget his membership in neo-Confederate organizations and opposition to anything that might smack of racial reconciliation. Winning the week, he is not.

There's also, insult to injury, a TV ad cut to HELP Wilson. It stars his wife (they met at a Republican camp). She confesses she asked her husband who the "nut" was who shouted at President Obama. She still loves him, however. Oh, and fellow Republican congressman Bob Inglis of Wilson's home state says Wilson owes a better apology to the House.

The JOP. Joe's Old Party. May he and his backers fight on with Rush and Beck.
