Town halls continue. No death panels tonight. This  one is about a push for a "clean energy economy" -- meaning jobs aimed at producing clean energy and reducing dependence on oil. It's at 5:30 p.m. in Grand Hall B at Pulaski Tech, North Little Rock.

NEWS RELEASE

North Little Rock, Arkansas – Repower Arkansas, a project of the Alliance for Climate Protection, today announced the nationwide Made in America Jobs Tour is coming to central Arkansas for a roundtable discussion highlighting the benefits to Arkansas families and businesses of transitioning to a clean energy economy.

“Arkansas workers and their families have been hit hard by the economic downturn, but we can create good jobs with good wages right here in Arkansas, by investing in a clean energy economy,” said Brendan Beattie, Repower Arkansas state director.
According to the Center for American Progress, transitioning to a clean energy economy will create more than 18,000 jobs here in Arkansas while reducing harmful carbon pollution and breaking our dependence on foreign oil.

In the last year, Repower America has drawn together a membership of over 7,800 Arkansans in support of strengthening Arkansas’s booming clean energy economy. On August 20th, the Alliance for Climate Protection and the Blue Green Alliance kicked off the nationwide Made in America Jobs Tour and are partnering on several events across the country through September.
