No gain for Arkansas students on the last round of ACT testing. A casual glance suggests lack of growth in numbers taking the test (planning for college).

Here's the complete state breakdown. The SREB also provided a chart on the five-year growth in test-taking in the 16 southern states. It shows growth in test-taking in Arkansas of only 7.2 percent, versus a 29 percent increase in the 16 states as a whole. The percentage of high school graduates taking the ACT in Arkansas has actually declined over five years, from about 76 percent to about 73 percent.

Coincidentally, this Senate news release notes a drop in the college-going rate in Arkansas. It raises concerns about the exploding cost of higher education and whether even an infusion of lottery money will be enough to offset it.
