About 10:40 a.m. today, the jury returned in the sex crime trial of cult leader Tony Alamo.
News bulletin: Guilty on all charges.
He was accused of 10 counts of taking minors -- as young as 9 -- across state lines for sex since 1994. His defense was that the government had to prove sex was the dominant reason for his taking the children across state lines. He didn't testify.
He'll be sentenced after a report by the federal probation office, which could take six to eight weeks. He'll remain in custody until then, as he has been since his arrest. The potential penalties should amount to a life sentence for Alamo, who is 74.
UPDATE: Here's the U.S. attorney's statement on the verdict for Alamo (or Bernie Hoffman, as he was originally known.)
Alamo was hauled back to prison as bystanders shouted "Bye bye Bernie."
