For some reason, this news release on behalf of Lt. Gov. Bill Halter reminds me of the time in the early 1970s that a young journalist in Newport wrote a free-lance article for the Arkansas Gazette about rising young Arkansas journalists. Under a pseudonym unknown to a gulled editor, the rising young journalist wrote glowingly about himself.

Anyway, Halter is signing his own name here. ….

PS: Through the miracle of modern telephony, I’ve just received a copy of that 1972 Gazette article, by one “Benjamin F. Smart,” with a smiling photo of the “new breed” journalist who wrote the piece smackdab in the middle of the page. We’ve all aged, haven’t we, Mike?
