The Little Rock City Board heard extended comments tonight on competing resolutions concerning a day center for the homeless.
One resolution, by City Director Erma Hendrix, called for the Board to kill any idea of using a former Job Corps Center at 21st and Vance for the day center.
Another resolution called for a thorough study of the use of the building, which could be developed for multiple uses.
Short take: Neighbors don't want the homeless center. Homeless advocates say the homeless are not the criminals many presume them to be. Middle-grounders emcouraged "due diligence" -- a study of the use of the building before any pre-emptive decisions..
Only Hendrix voted for her resolution. Director Ken Richardson voted "present." The resolution for study was approved by all voting, including Hendrix, who said she was a "team player."
