Hmmm. Fox 16 had a camera running in court yesterday during Curtis Vance’s hearing before Judge Chris Piazza on questions about mental evaluations for the man suspected of killing TV anchor Anne Pressly.
It’s my recollection — based on an encounter that a Times reporter, unfamiliar with the rules, had with Judge Piazza once — that the judge doesn’t allow recording of court proceedings.

UPDATE: David Goins of Fox 16 advises me that the camera was outside the courtroom and shooting through glass in the door, which is allowed. He adds that he took his microphone into the courtroom and accidentally left it on, so the camera picked up audio.
