The Democrat-Gazette’s Debra Hale-Shelton is back today with more UCA funny business, a $2,000-a-month consulting contract given by former President Lu Hardin to politico Bill Vickery.

What did he do for the money? Nobody seems to know except Vickery, who says it wouldn’t be prudent for a political consultant to reveal what media he had spun in Hardin’s behalf. (Ultimately, they were not spun very successfully, the record indicates.)

Vickery called me a time or two about UCA matters. The specifics are now lost to my memory. I’d guess it was mostly along the lines of “don’t believe everything you read in them lyin’ newspapers.”
