I'm quitting early, though I reserve the right to return. But here's your open line.

Or maybe you'd rather go to Movies in the Park. Blake Rutherford says it's on. "Princess Bride." Gates open at Riverfest Amphitheatre at 6:30.

PS -- Heifer International, the Little Rock-based hunger relief organization, announced in April that it would be laying off 20 percent of its U.S. workforce in June. Rumors are flying that this is the week and that notices have gone out. Our inability to get anyone at Heifer on the phone, in the PR department or otherwise, is perhaps an indication that something is up. Or simply that offices are no longer occupied.

UPDATE: Heifer spokesman said employees began learning Monday if they were on the layoff list and notifications will continue through the end of this week until the 20 percent reduction is done. No specific names are being released.

PPS -- I'd like to call attention to a couple of things in the print edition, now on the web. 1) The cover story by Dr. William Harrison of Fayetteville about his friend, the slain Wichita doctor George Tiller. He thinks law enforcement didn't do enough to protect him. 2) Our Insider notes a plan proposed in circuit court to strip Circuit Judge Willard Proctor of all criminal cases next year, should he survive a removal recommendation by judicial ethics watchdogs.
