My head hurts when I think about the star-crossed city of Wrightsville, the small community in southern Pulaski County long run by a corrupt mayor who apparently plundered the city treasury. Now that she's gone, the City Council has been trying to call a special election to fill the vacancy.
Interim Mayor Patricia Rogers-Ward doesn't seem to favor elections. She's announced that she's vetoed the Council's action calling for a special election for a mayor to serve through the end of 2010. Rogers-Ward, who is also the city recorder/treasurer, said the Council can vote to override her veto June 16.
