Thank goodness for Arkansas

Courtesy of Rep. Mark Martin (R-Twilight Zone), a link to a conservative group's annual complaint that says colleges -- particularly the top ones -- invite too many liberals to be commencement speakers. Harvard, Yale and Brown may be shutting out wingers. But, happily, Arkansas did its bit for diversity.

The few conservatives that did speak include Rep. Paul Ryan at Miami University-Ohio, Laura Bush at Southern Methodist University, Rep. Jack Kingston at the University of Georgia, U.S. Court of Appeals Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III at the University of Virginia, and the U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Morris Arnold at the University of Arkansas. That’s five. Five recognizable to barely-recognizable conservatives at the nation’s leading universities. To be fair, there were a handful of others on the list who appear to have given financially to conservative causes.

I hope these unhappy souls don't consider the distinguished jurist, historian and author Morris "Buzz" Arnold to be barely recognizable.

P.S. -- I heard George W. Bush at my daughter's graduation. B.B. King sang at my son's. Which would you choose?
