Opponents of Barack Obama's Supreme Court pick are grasping at straws. Latest is the issue of temperament. Interesting review of that point in NY Times today concerning Judge Sonia Sotomayor. It looks like the same old story to me. A man (say Scalia) who engages in vigorous questioning from the bench is a tough and demanding judge. A woman? Bitch.
PS -- Glenn Greenwald, a liberal writer who's practiced before the judge and who isn't ready to cheer her nomination by any means, offers a very interesting take on her. The key point: If anything, she's too legalistic and most unlikely to be swayed by empathy arguments.
