Racial Profiling Hotline Now Live

LITTLE ROCK- Today, Attorney General Dustin McDaniel announced that the Racial Profiling Hotline, authorized by the Act 768 of 2009, is now live.

The toll-free number is: 877-AGO(246)-4404.

Act 768 instructs the Attorney General's office to set up a dedicated toll free hotline housed within the office that will accept complaints by citizens that have experienced or witnessed what they believe to be racial profiling by law enforcement. As a result of the complaints, the Attorney General will create a report outlining the complaints received and provide it to the Legislative Council and Task Force on Racial Profiling on an annual basis. Act 768 also requires the Attorney General’s to report suspected criminal activity to the appropriate prosecuting agency.

“While I still believe, and certainly hope, that racial profiling is rare in Arkansas, it is important that we have a tool to use in tracking and evaluating allegations of illegal profiling,” McDaniel said. “I appreciate the diligence of Sen. Hank Wilkins (D- Pine Bluff) in sponsoring the legislation creating the hotline.”
