Bristol Palin, who became pregnant as a teenager, is kicking off a media tour to promote abstinence. Today's THV talks to some local students about "taking the pledge." One student seems to get it:
He says he agrees with her message, but thinks it shouldn't replace the lesson of safer sex. "So that in the event that somebody does give in, they are at least protected," he says.
The THV report notes that a national study found that 82 percent of 17-year-olds who took a virginity pledge broke that promise. When are people going to learn that abstinence only education doesn't work? Do people not make the connection between unwanted pregnancies and abortion?
