Fox News' David Goins tweets that Chairman Ray Thornton tells the commission they need to get things into high gear: "Everyday we wait, that's $200K in missed college scholarships." Gerard will file on the meeting shortly.
UPDATE: Besides electing Thornton -- who told reporters after the meeting that he'd had misgivings about gambling before the lottery election -- the commission's main accomplishment was to plan for next week's meeting, 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 11. It will take up committee structure, expense reimbursement issues, discuss the hiring of a director (UCA's Tom Courtway?) and other brass tack items. Thornton vowed the commission's work would remain apolitical and open.
