Just noticed The Encyclopedia of Arkansas’s day in history feature.

The Office of Possumology, which oversaw the Possum of Tomorrow Program, was established to sponsor research into the best means of raising native opossums and to promote opossum breeding and consumption. Part of the Arkansas Agriculture Department, it sought to create a native opossum industry to parallel the success of the post–World War II poultry industry.
