Republicans are glum and Democrats are happy about that special congressional election in upstate New York last night, even though a recount and several thousand absentee ballots will yet determine the outcome.

The Democrat leads by a handful of votes. It’s essentially a tie. But a powerful, prominent Republican who started the race 20 points ahead in a heavily Republican district against an unknown and who ran against President Obama ended the night behind. (Huck’s Army worked for the Repub, let it be noted.)
