. I suspect he's right. His only communication during the trial itself seems to have been about the quality of french fries served to the jury. Absent a judge's injunction against post-trial remarks, I presume he was free to speak to the world, without intermediary, about the case he decided. Unusual, yes. But nobody would have said a thing had it been an interview he gave a newspaper reporter.
