Rep. Mark Martin issues a news release touting his bill to allow open carrying of handguns. Why limit it to handguns? Why not also grenade launchers and machine guns (if duly permitted, of course)?

His release:

Arkansas is one of only 6 states banning open carry, bur Rep. Martin wants to change that with HB 2184, see http://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/assembly/2009/R/Pages/BillInformation.aspx?measureno=HB2184.

HB 2184 would conform Arkansas law to the law of most states which allows law abiding people to openly carry holstered handguns in public without any permit.

So far this year in response to online petitions, 3 of the 6 states currently banning open carry are considering bills to repeal these the bans:  South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Arkansas; in Texas a bill has been drafted, but not yet introduced.

OpenCarry.org welcomes this latest reform bill and Arkansas and will be working closely with ArkansaCarry.com, a pro-gun group formed by Arkansas members of OpenCarry.org, to support HB 2184.

OpenCarry.org applauds Representative Martin's effort to bring full Second Amendment carry rights to Arkansas!
