Pryor to UA Board? UPDATE

Passing along a rumor that Brummett's Blog passed along: David Pryor to the UA Board seat held by Jim Lindsey, whose term has expired. He meets the Lindsey standard for higher education oversight in Arkansas -- he knows the Hog call. But also once ran the Institute of Politics up at a place called Harvard, comfort to those whose interests extend beyond the courts and playing fields.

UPDATE: Gov. Beebe just announced a batch of appointments, UA Board not among them. Also, I can't say for sure if a Second District resident can be appointed to the seat. Lindsey holds an at-large seat, but I think Brummett wrote that the two at-large seats can't both be from the same district. The other at-large seatholder currently is from Little Rock, Dr. Carl Johnson. Pryor has been living in Little Rock, but has been teaching in Fayetteville this fall.

UPDATE II: Here's a clue for you -- David Pryor is currently registered to vote in Fayetteville.

In any case, it so happens that the Downtown Partnership will be giving an award to the UA System at a noon luncheon Wednesday for location of the Clinton School downtown. UA President Alan Sugg to be there. Gov. Mike Beebe to be there. Other UA luminaries to be there. Opportune time for an announcement?
