I expected to see more coverage of this important study today, which affirms a sermon preached by my mother the registered dietitian 50 years ago. Weight loss is all about the calories. Not low fat. Not high carb. Not high protein.

You eat fewer calories than the body burns and you lose weight. Simple formula. Hard to stick with. It won't put the Atkins and other believers out of business. But you could eat only Shipley's doughnuts every day and lose weight, if only you didn't eat too many. (You can eat five and still be under 1,200 calories.)
