Church gun bill stopped

After an hour of debate, the Senate Judiciary Committee today refused to endorse the bill to allow concealed weapons in churches, currently prohibited. Sen. Jerry Taylor moved for a do-pass, but only Sen. Ruth Whitaker joined in support, with four five votes needed from the eight-member committee. The motion failed on a voice vote. Sens. Jim Luker, Sue Madison and Hank Wilkins all spoke in opposition to the bill.

How about that?

The sponsor can take another crack at the committee.
