Some Southern Republican governors seem intent on standing on "principle" and refusing some of the stimulus money. It's the government shutdown all over again, except, this time, it's people's existence in the balance, not the federal bureaucracy. They're gambling -- hoping really -- that Obama will fail. Amazing. Republicans in Florida and California take a different tack.
A hypothetical: Mike Huckabee is parroting the party line (the party being Southern white men) and he being hopeful of Obama failure for a 2012 presidential run. But would he be talking so tall if he were still governor and money was on the line for Arkansas? I think the pragmatic Huck would have been more with The Terminator than Mark Sanford. But maybe I give The Huckster too much credit.
