OK, out of retirement briefly, for one of those higher ed-style debates -- low stakes, high interest in narrow quarters affected. That would be who'll be new executive director of the Arkansas Republican Party now that Executive Director Karen Ray has decided to join her fiance in Mississippi.
Republican blogger Jason Tolbert is obsessing, naturally. And there's plenty of detail there.
My source says an early proposal, two or three weeks ago, was for Party Chair Doyle Webb to combine the chairmanship with the E.D. job. But the Executive Committee of the Party tabled the idea for further talk when Webb suggested a $100,000 salary. (not bad coin in this day and time.) And he also reportedly suggested a $60,000 position for a finance director. The name mentioned there was old Republican hand Stacy DeJarnette.
Back to retirement.Psst. A name from NWA to remember -- Keith Emis.
