John Brummett reassesses Sen. President Pro Tem Bob Johnson, making nice this session after some dark episodes in his past. He singularly lauds Johnson for the effort we've mentioned previously to buy sod farm acreage in the Lake Maumelle watershed and make it a natural area (and make a killing for current owners, including Jay DeHaven and PC&E dictator/industrialist Tom Schueck, in the process).
I'm not saying this is directly connected, but it brings up a very interesting issue -- how Gov. Beebe will deal with matters related to Schueck, both this land deal and his reappointment to the PC&E. Schueck and family were major contributors to the Beebe cause.
The threat of sewage disposal in the watershed no doubt makes the land purchase a welcome prospect. Johnson's seemingly more cordial relationship with the Senate at large is also worth noting.
But I nonetheless remain cognizant of leopards and spots.
