The final NY Times/CBS poll puts Bush approval rating at 22 percent.
Unbelievable, I know, that one in five still think he's done an acceptable job.
Even more unbelievable is that 13 percent of Americans approve of Dick Cheney. Not anybody you'd want to meet on a quail hunt, I'd bet.
ON THIS TOPIC: DeMillo surveys Arkies and finds not much enthusiasm. Even Repubs have a hard time coming up with something good to say. Rep. John Boozman must think books, periodicals and the web will be eradicated. How else will historians come to rewrite this disaster as a succcess? Republican Chair Doyle Webb, following smartly in the footsteps of Dennis "What we need is another 9/11" Milligan, is another with convenient amnesia about 9/11. He says Bush protected the country from another terrorist attack. Does that mean he gets a mulligan on 9/11? And there is the little matter of the anthrax terror mailings.
And, yes, Webb thinks Bush wasn't true enough to conservative principles. Please, yes, let the GOP continue to be the party of the hard "religious" right -- wanging the gong on abortion, gays and low taxes for rich people and tobacco companies while opposing relief for working stiffs and universal health care. Please.
