There's a great new book out that only wonks and nerds could love. It's "How Barack Obama Won" (Vintage Paperback, 258 pages, $12.95). It's a bare-bones statistical analysis of the numbers that led to Obama's election, plus some explanatory passages.
An interesting feature in the back is a bunch of lists such as "States With the Highest Proportion of College-Educated" and the like. Arkansas made four of the lists:
States With the Lowest Proportion of College-Educated (No. 9 -- 63%); States With the Highest Proportion of Seniors (tied for No. 2 -- 19%); States With the Lowest Proportion of Hispanics (tied for No. 3 -- 3%), and States With the Highest Proportion of White Evangelicals (No. 1 -- 56%).
Draw your own conclusions.
