The Little Rock Classroom Teachers Association has approved a pay agreement for the school year. The School Board will consider it tomorrow night. Details: An increase in health insurance contributions and a $479 bonus for those who've topped out on the step chart. The district agrees to reopen the matter in February to see if the financial situation has improved. The Board will also consider hiring a chief financial officer.
Asked by a Board member if the District could afford the CTA agreement, Superintendent Linda Watson responded:
As far as the budget is concerned, the administration has continued to eliminate positions as they have occurred. We have also moved a few more positions into Title I. We received additional funding from the State in a Categorical Funding area. We may have to transfer funds from another department’s budget. Therefore, we strongly believe we have the funds for the agreement. If you need additional information, please call me.
