Hunters hit paying gas

The state Game and Fish Commission voted today to spend $2.1 million from its  gas leasing windfall to buy 1,825 acres in Desha County for a new wildlife management area. The former farmland is about a mile from the existing Choctaw Island Wildlife Management Area. It's said to be good for deer and small game hunting and includes a 160-acre lake.
