Gov. Mike Beebe named two men today to fill vacancies in prosecuting attorney slots -- Mike Walden of Jonesboro and Will Feland of Cabot.

NEWS RELEASE

LITTLE ROCK – Governor Mike Beebe has named Mike Walden of Jonesboro and Will Feland of Cabot as prosecuting attorneys in the 2nd and 23rd Judicial Districts, respectively.  Both appointments will take effect on January 1, 2009.

            Walden, 57, has been a deputy prosecuting attorney in Craighead County for the past decade, and has worked with that office since 1976.  He is a former president of the Craighead County Bar Association and a member of the National District Attorneys Association.  Walden will replace Brent Davis, who is resigning to become a circuit judge.

            Feland, 56, is a former prosecuting attorney in Prairie and White Counties.  Since 2001, he has served on the Lonoke Exceptional School Board, and prior to that on the Cabot School Board.  He has also been president of the Cabot Chamber of Commerce.  Feland will replace Lona McCastlain, who is resigning to move overseas.

            The Arkansas 2nd Judicial District encompasses Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Greene, Mississippi and Poinsett Counties.  The 23rd Judicial District is in Lonoke County.  Both appointments will expire December 31, 2010.
