1. 2008- 108190 – AGGRAVATED ROBBERY (USE OF FORCE)
SUSPECT – MARIO COLLINS, B/M, 6-11-1983, 2522 S. MAPLE
VICTIM – WAFFLE HOUSE, 201 N. SHACKLEFORD
INCIDENT DATE/TIME – 9-17-2008 AT 0020 HOURS
INCIDENT LOCATION – 201 N. SHACKLEFORD
ARREST DATE/TIME – 9-17-2008 AT 0030 HOURS
ARREST LOCATION – 201 N. SHACKLEFORD
Officers responded to a robbery in progress call at the Waffle House located at 201 N. Shackleford and observed a black male with a gun inside the business. As officers were taking up positions, the suspect fired his handgun inside the business, and then exited out the front door. Officers ordered the suspect to drop his weapon, but he refused. The officers, who feared for their safety, as well as the safety of civilians, shot the suspect as he attempted to flee while holding the handgun. The suspect, Mario Collins, was taken into custody and it was then discovered that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his buttocks. After taking items from four people, as well as the business, Collins fled out the door where he was met by officers. No one inside the business was injured in the incident. Collins was transported to Baptist Hospital and treated, then released and transported to the Downtown Detective Division where he was charged with 11 counts of Aggravated Robbery, 5 counts Theft of Property and 1 count Aggravated Assault.
1. 2008- 108171 – AGGRAVATED ROBBERY
SUSPECT – 2 B/M’S
VICTIM – WAFFLE HOUSE, 500 S. BOWMAN
INCIDENT DATE/TIME – 9-17-2008 AT 0025 HOURS
INCIDENT LOCATION – 500 S. BOWMAN
Officers responded to an aggravated robbery just occurred call at the Waffle House and made contact with several employees and two customers who advised that 2 black males who were armed with black semi-automatic pistols, entered and robbed the customers and took the cash drawer from the register. The suspects then fled the business. They are described as being black males, 20-25 years of age, of medium height and weight, wearing all dark clothing and had their faces covered with a dark cloth.
1. 2008- 107939 – AGGRAVATED ROBBERY, THEFT, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
SUSPECT – B/M, 22-25 YEARS OF AGE
VICTIM – JERRY CLEMENTS, W/M, 7-16-1947, 1900 MARYLAND
VICTIM – DOUG BROWN, W/M, 12-19-1967, 1900 MARYLAND
VICTIM – PARTHAK PRODHAN, 9-29-1968, 1900 MARYLAND
INCIDENT DATE/TIME – 9-16-2008 AT 1325 HOURS
INCIDENT LOCATION – MARYLAND & BATTERY
On 9-16-2008, Dr. Prodhan of Arkansas Children’s Hospital, observed a black male removing a laptop computer from the Cardiology office. He followed the suspect and asked for his hospital ID badge. The suspect could not produce a badge and Dr. Prodhan then demanded he return the computer. The suspect refused and kept walking out of the hospital. Security was alerted and located the suspect, but after a brief struggle, the suspect entered a green vehicle. Security Officer Clemments held onto the driver door in an attempt to detain the suspect. The suspect then drove off, dragging Officer Clemments approximately 25 feet, causing Officer Clemments to strike another vehicle. Doug Brown, who was attempting to come to the aid of Officer Clemments, was almost struck by the suspect when he drove towards him. The suspect was able to flee the parking lot.
3. 2008- 108065 – BUSINESS ROBBERY
SUSPECT – B/M
VICTIM – CLASSIC CUTS, 1220 FAIR PARK
INCIDENT DATE/TIME – 9-16-2008
INCIDENT LOCATION – 1220 FAIR PARK
Officers responded to a robbery just occurred at Classic Cuts located at 1220 Fair Park and made contact with employees who stated that a black male came into the business with a gun and demanded money. After taking money, the suspect fled on foot south of the business. The suspect is described as being approximately 5’11”, thinly built, early 20’s, wearing a red t-shirt, gray sweatpants and carrying a black backpack.
