In celebration of the first 100 days in office of Executive Director DuShun Scarbrough (above, in suit), the Martin Luther King Jr. Commission held a press conference and reception at the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce this afternoon. The presentation was short on specifics about the revamped commission’s activities, though Scarbrough afterwards said the commission has sponsored an RBI baseball team and participated in Juneteenth activities this past weekend. Perhaps the biggest change is the commission’s fresh image, concocted by Design Group Marketing, a local company. Scarbrough said the marketing work, as well as the food spread at the reception, was paid for by two new sponsors, Denny’s and A’Test Consulting, a North Little Rock drug testing firm. The firm’s head, Jeff Sims, said the firm will work with the commission to develop diversity programs. The ceremony also marked the commission’s new membership in the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce.
