If any Democrats are actually thinking about following through on their threats to “sit this one out” or vote for McBush in November they might enjoy Lee Child’s latest novel in his Jack Reacher series. It’s titled Nothing to Lose, appropriate indeed for those who are having trouble switching their support behind the party’s nominee.

The book should sober up those who haven’t given a lot of thought to McCain’s war fever or his (now-disavowed) support from the fat tub of guts from San Antonio.

The book’s not haute literature but it makes for a nice — if sobering — summertime read.
