A reliable source just called in to say that Jack’s Resort, the fishing dock on the White River north of Mountain View, is under water thanks to heavy rains that have fallen on Arkansas since yesterday, swelling the rivers in the northern counties. Mountain View reported 12 inches of rain; towns in Newton and Searcy counties had more than 10 inches.
Two men are missing: one in Stone County whose car was found near Timbo and the other in Washington County. The Arkansas Department of Emergency Services reports that three cars were swept down the Buffalo River, but no one has been reported missing.
Up to 100 people have been evacuated from the Oil Trough area in Independence County and 50 people have been evacuated from Hardy and homes along the Spring River in Sharp County.
