Mitt Romney is giving up his race for president.
Can a McCain-Huckabee ticket be far away?
But the immediate question is whether Mike Huckabee, with far less resources than Romney, will stay in the race with McCain’s win inevitable? Huckabee supporters are begging him to soldier on. Do you believe in miracles? Or, dare we say, acts of God?
UPDATE: Still no statement from Huckabee camp, but Daniel Nasaw writes for The Guardian that the Romney decision increases the pressure on Huckabee to drop out, too. He notes there’s still time for Huckabee to stay home and run against Sen. Mark Pryor.
UPDATE II: We have a Huckabee statement on the jump. Short version: He’s staying in. He figures, probably correctly, that coming tests in Kansas, Louisiana and Virginia promise plenty of voters of his kind. With enough delgates, he can maybe dicker for a job for himself and all of his brood, too, plus Hummers all around.
