Silly season

The governors of Arkansas and Missouri are wagering each other a bale of cotton on the Cotton Bowl game. Release on jump.

Governor Mike Beebe and Missouri Governor Matt Blunt have placed a friendly wager on the Cotton Bowl showdown between the University of Arkansas and the University of Missouri.  In honor of the game, each governor has offered up a bale of his state’s best cotton, as well as other locally produced products.

"Time and again, the Razorbacks have proven their skill and resolve as a team this season," Governor Beebe said.  "I can think of no better way for Arkansas to start the new year than bringing home another marquee victory over another group of Tigers."

"The Missouri Tigers had a tremendous season, giving fans, alumni and Missourians a season of great victories," Governor Blunt said. "I am confident the Tigers will begin the new year with a thrashing of the Arkansas Razorbacks."

An Arkansas victory will bring home a Missouri cotton bale decorated in Mizzou garb, Missouri branded beef, Cowboy Chris' Barbeque Sauce and Martin Rice.  Beebe hopes the Tigers won’t get the chance to win their governor a Petit Jean Peppered Ham, McClard’s Bar-B-Q Sauce, Riceland Rice and a bale of Arkansas cotton fashioned into a Razorback.
