Watching the CNN/YouTube debate? Huckabee knocked one out of the park when questioned directly about his support of legislation to provide college tuition  help to children of unauthorized immigrants who’d graduated from Arkansas high schools. Should we punish children for sins of their parents? Should we not encourage a path to citizenship for kids who are achieving? Good questions. Simple answers. Mitt Romney seemed churlish and mean in response that this amounted to rewarding illegal activity. That might — MIGHT — work in the weird world of a Republican primary. But it was a shining moment for Mike Huckabee.

Huckabee did well on every occasion. But that’s a Democrat speaking. OK, he did lie big time about his percentage of the black vote. But David Gergen’s analysis was right. Huck was human. He attracts on personal style.
