Michael Barone, in an op-ed for the NY Times, suggests a bipartisan presidential debate. The benefit would be that candidates would be at least tempted, if not forced, to provide answers aimed at undecided voters rather than just deliver boffo soundbites tailored to the party base, the primary spectator of one-party debates. The Huckster would have to find other material than John Edwards’ haircuit, for example.
