Takedown: The rest of the story

Our item Friday about a physical police arrest near our office prompted quite a bit of reader discussion. Some of it stemmed from our report of a police threat to arrest one of our reporters for asking questions about the incident after a suspect had been placed in a patrol car. Here, for those who might still be interested, is the rest of the story, from David Koon:

It was initially an  undercover cop versus panhandler situation.

Apparently, Officer Richard Glascock was was panhandled by Terrance Jones, who is homeless. At some point during their conversation, according to the report, Jones threatened to "kick (Glasscock's) ass," at which time Glasscock identified himself as a cop and told  Jones he was under arrest.

While trying to arrest Jones, according to the report, Glasscock was struck in the back of the head by Jones. After two other officers  arrived, they were able to take Jones to the ground. "Officers were not able to force (Jones') arms behind his back," the report says.  "Officer Glascock delivered four knee strikes to (Jones') left torso area. Officers were then able to get (Jones) cuffed."  During the  altercation, Glascock suffered minor scrapes to his right hand. Jone was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting  arrest and third degree battery.
