Guilty Plea in Maumelle Hate Crime

Shawn Hardin, a Maumelle woman indicted by the federal government earlier this year after she sent a racially-tinged threat to her neighbors, pleaded guilty yesterday of a civil rights violation. The charge, Criminal Interference with Right to Fair Housing, carries a maximum sentence of a $100,000 fine and a year in jail. A second charge of sending a threatening communication through the mail was dropped. A sentencing hearing has yet to be scheduled.
