Lu Hardin: also tired of all this Hog talk

Alternate title: "GO BEARS! Wear purple, or orange, when appropriate."

UCA president Lu Hardin wants Conway business folk to leave their Razorback red at home on Fridays and Saturdays in favor of UCA Bear purple. Support local was the gist of his letter to the Conway Chamber of Commerce, which the Slophouse, a new Razorback blog that Rainer Sabin runs in NWA, posted earlier this week. UCA's economic impact on Conway served as the brunt of Hardin's argument.

Right now, UCA has $24 million of construction in the pipeline. The deposits in credit unions and banks, as well as purchases in stores, are not being made by employees of the UA-Fayetteville but by UCA employees and students. A Razorback fan might stop for a $5 hamburger and fries, but it won’t approach the $150 million that helps keep the pulse of Conway alive and thriving.

Later in the letter, Hardin is such a team player that he even encourages businesses to also wear Hendrix orange during the basketball season.
