The schedule will be packed for the next few weeks with events timed, or thematically matched, to the 50th anniversary of the school crisis. Last night, Juan Williams, the journalist and Thurgood Marshall biographer, spoke at a UALR-UAF history symposium and, said an attendee, rather than talk about history issued a call to arms on racial problems that continue to vex America. That, I think, should be the larger theme of this month's events -- not a look back, but a look at today and tomorrow.
It also was announced, that the Frueauff Foundation had issued a $25,000 challenge grant to UALR to create a scholarship for those studying civil rights and social justice.
