With Alabama looming, Hog football coach Houston Nutt has ended suspension of defensive end Marcus Harrison, who was arrested before the cream puff opener on drug charges.
I'm ok with this, save Nutt's usual empty sanctimony.
But here's context to consider: In school districts across Arkansas, there are policies that prohibit students from tooting a horn in band, debating or playing interscholastic tiddlywinks if they refuse to submit to random drug testing. Not test positive, but just refuse to submit. Never mind being caught with a couple of blunts and Ecstasy. How we treat scholarship athletes at UA does send a message, particularly when it varies dramatically with how we'd treat some pimply schlub at County Line High. I'm not for less compassion at Fayetteville, but less authoritarian hysteria everywhere else.
