The Iconoclast blog, which rises in Fayetteville, has become a regular morning stop. He’s well plugged into official Fayetteville and, obviously, I like his political point of view.

Among the subjects at or near the top of his blog today: Concern about the Fayetteville library getting into the book-selling business, to the possible detriment of local independents; a wonderful essay on how the media covers — or fails to cover — Labor Day’s core issues; and a discussion and link to a fine story in the Morning News reporting that eight Northwest Arkansas libraries, including the one in Bentonville, are among the 11 statewide that don’t share in state library aid because they don’t meet criteria — including a librarian with sufficient educational background or a one-mill library tax. Pass a library tax in Bentonville?

Hadi Dudley, director of the Bentonville Public Library, says, “It’s one of those tax issues. It’s just difficult for people to vote to spend money.”

Presumably the Iconoclast will be reporting shortly whether the developers of the Big Dig have  begun paying the required fines for failing to deliver their taxpayer-subsidized hotel in downtown Fayetteville on time.
