How about this passage in the New York Times? It refers to Republican electoral chance in Senate races in 2008.
Republican strategists acknowledge the challenge but say they are up to it. They note that Democrats have candidates running in Republican-leaning states like Louisiana and Arkansas.
“We have strong candidates in vulnerable states,” said Rebecca Fisher, a spokeswoman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. “We don’t have vulnerable candidates.”
Let's see. Every single state official and five of six members of Congress are Democrats. The legislature is overwhelmingly Democratic. Sen. Mark Pryor, up for election in 2008, as yet has no Republican opposition. The loudest complaints about him seem to come from liberal Democrats. So how is it that Arkansas leans Republican? This is a small but telling example of how national reporters will regurgitate any bilge fed them by Republicans.
