An endorsement session was scheduled at noon today Thursday at which “community leaders and ministers” were to announce endorsements of Robert M. (Michael) Daugherty in the Zone 2 LR School Board race. The notice came from the fax of George Blevins Jr., who’s been active in a number of neighborhood issues, including, particularly, the closure and re-use of Mitchell School. The press contact — with whom I’ve left a message for specifics — is Chris Morris, I presume the same Chris Morris who was the Republican candidate for state treasurer.

UPDATE: I jumped the gun, getting the date wrong by a day. Morris said 30 or more church pastors turned out to endorse Daugherty Thursday, including Bishop Steven Arnold of St. Mark’s, William Robinson of Hoover Methodist and William Easter of Holy Cross Church, all well-known congregations along 12th Street in the heart of the district.
